The Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies, and the Faculty of Education and Extension Services, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has held an orientation programme for the newly admitted students of the faculties on Wednesday 22nd of December, 2021, at ETF3 Lecture Hall, Main Campus.
The orientation aims to sensitize the new students about the Dos and Don'ts of the University. Among the personalities present are the FAIS Dean Students Affairs, the FEES Dean Students ' Affairs, the University Dean Students Affairs, the Director of UDUS Main Library, and the school Chief Security Officer.
While welcoming everyone to the August epoch-making gathering, Dr. Sajo, a lecturer at the English Language Department wished the students the best of luck in their academics.
The Dean Students' Affairs ably represented by Mallam Tukur said that the Students' Affairs Office is there to guide the students and help them achieve their aims and objectives.
"Assisting you in every possible way is the top-gear in the services we render for you as our students," he said.
He urged the students to make effective use of their phones, noting that it won't cause problems for them or make them leave the university untimely.
As the master of the ceremony, Dr.Sajo gave the podium to the director of the Management Information System (MIS), Mallam Ahmad Isah Chafe, and in his speech, he explained how the students can get the best out of the school ICT center.
He said: "The ICT center provides you with wide-range accessibility of hotspots, and free services like the photocopy, and printing of your documents, etc."
He also implored the students to change their passwords on the portal so that others won't have access to their portals.
The Dean of Students' Affairs, Prof. Muhammad Aminu Mode on his arrival said that:
"As a student of UDUS, there should be a difference between you and those who don't have the opportunity to be here."
He further urged the students to be determined and remain focused on what brought them from their various homes and to have a grim eagerness to graduate with good grades.
While Dr. Bala Bakwai Kwashabawa was addressing the students, he advised the entire students not to be shy of having an "F" in their results.
"What is the usefulness of having "A's" in the first semester while you are being sent out of the University in the second semester as a result of examination malpractice? So if you have an "F" in your result, there is still hope, you just need to embrace it and work out your weakness," he explained.
He added: "You will not have the degree certificate of this University even if you have A's from your first semester to your last semester on campus if you don't have good morals"
