FISU UDUS Holds Orientation Program for New Students

The Federation of Igboho Students' Union (FISU), a local chapter under the Federation of Oyo State Students' Union, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto chapter has held her annual orientation program for the new students on Sunday 21st November 2021.

The program which was held at Prof. S. O. Rabiu resident, UDUS quarter, Runji sambo, Sokoto, was graced by comrade Dhikirullahi Oyetunde, a past member of the association, who enlightened the new student on the dos and don ts of the university.

He said that the course everyone is studying doesn't determine his/her success. He added that they should be pleased with their course of study and aim higher to accomplish their goals.

He also emphasized on the issue of premarital relationships on campus which he directed to the ladies, advised them to stay away from anything that would tarnish their images on campus. He also noted that they should know the kind of peer group they mingle with, noting that the type of friends they walk with would describe the kind of person they are.

"Try to discover yourselves. Do not copy someone else for you to graduate with better grades," he advised.

Comrade Dhulkifli concluded his speech by saying that prayer is the sword of success in students' academic endeavours.

Comrade Jimoh AbdulMaleeq, the Public Relations Officer 2 of the Federation of Oyo State Students' Union (FOSSU), UDUS chapter, also gave his words of advice.

"It is very important for you to remember your purpose of being here and face your study. Do not allow your social life to jeopardize your careers," he said.

Comrade Attairu, a member of FISU, urged the students to respect the lecturers and their fellow students on campus.

He said that they should always make their approaches to people in a good manner, noting that the way they behave to people tells where they come from.

The President of the Federation of Oyo State Students' Union (FOSSU UDUS), comrade Habeeb Tijani Temitope also admonished the students to change their mindsets on the northern universities.

"Do not support the idea that people don't study well in the northern part of the country because it is a wrong and negative mindset," he advised.
