The centre for entrepreneurship development, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has joined the United States and the United Kingdom in celebration of global entrepreneurship week.
The programme which was scheduled to hold for four days, commenced yesterday 17th November 2021 at the Center for Entrepreneurship Development, UDUS, under the Directorate of Prof. Maryam Koko.
The first day of the programme was tagged entrepreneurs' funding opportunities (CBN intervention), facilitated by Mallam Mahmud O. Adeiza, a lecturer from the Department of Accounting who is also an entrepreneur.
He made it clear to those that were present at the event that Entrepreneurship Week is celebrated globally, just like the world celebrates mothers' day.
"Entrepreneurs are not just people who are after the creation of wealth, they are people who are looking forward to making other people financially secure into the future," he said.
He also emphasised that celebrating such kinds of ages for a specific week in the whole world isn't too much for people who are trying to build good things into the nearest future, explained what brought about the celebration of the entrepreneurs all over the world.
The Central Bank Nigeria (CBN) also announced that the entrepreneurship week is part of the efforts they are using to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the country. He added that they provide platforms and opportunities for youth to access the intervention on the ground.
The facilitator encouraged students not to miss the opportunities like the ones coming from the Entrepreneurship Week programme.
In an interview with a member of the club and moderator of the event, Hussein AbdulBasit (Penguin) the president of Poetry Club, UDUS, and National President of Political Science Students, he appreciated the presence of some notable students' leaders on campus, starting from the 34th president of Rotaract club of UDUS, Rotaractor Ishaq Yazeed Musa and the current Vice President National Association of Campus Journalists (NACJ UDUS), Amina Gambari.
"This programme is educative that students shouldn't afford to miss the opportunities coming from the programme and this conference should not be taken for granted," he said.
AbdulBasit, however, urged the students to be in attendance as the programme continues today.
