Outstanding UDUS' Law Graduates and Students Awarded Inaugural Late Boyi Dikko Memorial Scholarship

The Late Boyi Dikko Memorial Scholarship was yesterday, the 8th of January, 2020 awarded to some outstanding graduates and students of the faculty of Law, UDUS.

The scholarship which began this year is organised by the friends of Late Boyi Dikko, the first Attorney General of Kebbi State in honour of his life and excellent years of service.
Going forward, the scholarship intends to for the period of ten years annually award academically outstanding students of the faculty of Law, UDUS, at different academic levels.

The inaugural recipients of the scholarship are eleven—six graduates, and five undergraduates. The six graduate recipients are: Fodiyo Jodi, Hafsat Belko, Ahmad Ma'aruf, Islamiyyah Muhammad Bello, Firdaus Aminu Babasalati and Mannir Ahmad, all six graduating with a Second Class Upper Honours degree, 2018/19 session.

While the five undergraduate recipients are: Abdulwasiu Mujeeb (500L), Ukashati Ibrahim (500L), Ahmed Naja'atu Wabi (500L), Hadiza Bamaiyi (500L) and Sabo Bilya Abubakar albeit being in 400L. All five with CGPAS that border on a similar class of degree as the graduates.

Consequent of the scholarship, all 11 recipients got a HP Laptop each, except Sabo Bilya Abubakar — the only 400L student — who was given a cheque of #200,000.

In an interview with Pen Press UDUS, Abdulwasiu Mujeeb, a 500L student in Law, UDUS and also one of the recipients of the scholarship expressed his joy over the recognition, however added that it will serve as a motivation.

He said: "I feel great. Though not all time awards represent true state of things, but it will surely serve as an encourager for a  learner like myself to do more great things."

He further advised Law students who crave similar feats to always be hardworking, and be patient for it to fruit.
"Hardwork pays, reward for it may not be gained quickly as expected but it will surely come." He said.

Similarly, Islamiyyah Muhammad Bello, one of the graduate recipients of the scholarship told Pen Press UDUS that she feels fulfilled, seeing that the recognition is something she has always worked for and desired.

Islamiyyah further advised her juniors to always be prayerful and at the same time hardworking, for the two will make any of them do greater exploits.
Her words: "Be more prayerful and work harder. You can do better."
