GNI Opens Application for Second Cohort of its Academic Mentorship Programme

Zariat Yetunde Ayoade reports,

The Greenline Nurture Initiative (GNI), of Dr Kazeem Aremu and Profesor Jimoh Olaiya Amzat, has begun receiving applications for the second cohort of its Academic Mentorship programme. It revealed this via its social media handles on the eve of Saturday, May 20, 2023.

The GNI Academic Mentorship programme is a 6-month free mentorship program for final-year undergraduate schooling in Sokoto State. Unlike the first cohort, which admitted 30 members, the second cohort will take in 100 outstanding undergraduate finalists.

The mentorship programme, which began in 2021, equips undergraduate scholars, through intensive training on the processes and procedures for securing international scholarships and fellowships, with the skills and resources to upscale their academic, professional and leadership capacity.

The notice, entitled “CALL FOR APPLICATIONS”, invited suitably qualified candidates to turn in their applications for the programme, using this link, before the deadline, which is pegged at Sunday, June 4, 2023.

According to the flyer that accompanied the notice, prospective candidates for the programme must meet specific requirements to be eligible for the academic mentorship programme.

“Applicants must be final-year undergraduate students in degree-awarding institutions in Sokoto State,” it read.

It went further to state that prospective candidates must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) of 3.5 in a five-point grading system or its equivalent, depending on the applicable grading system as at the end of the last academic session.

“Applicants must write an essay of not more than 250 words stating their passion for academic excellence, zeal for postgraduate studies and why the GNI board should select them as part of the cohort,” it concluded.
