On the eve of yesterday, December 13, a student of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto lost her life to an accident that happened between the Billya Sanda Gate and School Bus Stop.
Maryam Ibrahim Muhammad, a 300-level student of Botany, reportedly died upon impact of the accident.
According to a press release by the Students' Union Caretaker Committee, five other passengers, who are also students of the university, sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at an hospital, under the supervision of the of the Students' Union.
However, as at the time of documenting this report, three of the accident victims have been discharged while two remain under treatment at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH).
The press release further highlighted that the burial rites for the deceased will be performed at the Nakasari Area, Western Bye Pass, Sokoto at 9:00am today.
The Students' Union Implored students to attend the burial, encouraging them to converge at the school bus stop for free transport.
May God forgive the deceased and "deliver quick recuperation to the affected students," the release concluded.
