The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has held its 3rd induction/oath-taking ceremony of the 2019/2020 academic session in which 22 graduands of Nursing were inducted.
The event which took place at the University auditorium on Thursday, 23rd December, 2021, had in attendance, the prominent personalities likes the Vice-Chancellor, Umanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, professor L.S Bilbis, who was ably represented by the deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Muhammad Garuba Mahuta. The Chairman of the occasion was Hon. (Dr) Balarabe Shehu Kakale, Provost College of Health Science, Professor S.A Saidu, Cheif medical Director, Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Dr Anas A Sabir among others.
The provost, College of Health Sciences, Professor S.A Saidu, said to the Nurses that in every situation they find themselves within Nigeria or oversea, they should be able to develop, initiate, strategize, implement and evaluate as only strategic layouts are what are necessary to bring positive outcomes in order to provide effective, quality and productive health care for Nigerians.
"Nursing in UDUS has also now been uplifted to postgraduate level," he added.
Professor Muhammad Garuba, the deputy Vice-Chancellor Academy congratulated the newly inducted Nurses.
"I happily congratulate the newly inducted graduands for being found worthy and been inducted today into the noble nursing profession, and I'm glad today that the Department of nursing sciences which is among the youngest department in the university as gradually developed into such this great department," he affirmed.
Awards, over the course of the event, were presented to some inductees, beginning from the best graduating student, Amis Sefiu, the most well behaved student, Sauratu Issa, best graduating students in Psychiatric Nursing, Abubakar Muhammad, the best female graduating students, Yusuf Balikisu , and the best graduating student in Pediatrics Nursing which again went to Amis Sefiu. The best students were also given the sum of ten thousand naira each.
With a broad smile on his face, Amis Sefiu who collected two awards and a sum of 100 thousand naira, being the best graduating student and best graduating student in Pediatrics Nursing, expressed his happiness while speaking with Pen Press.
"It has though not been easy, as the hurdles were challenging along the way, but what is thrilling the most is being able to say "Alhamdullilah" in the end," he said happily.
