The Vice Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof Abdullah Abdu Zuru, has charged 84 medical laboratory science graduates of the institution to discharge their duties diligently, keep to the oath and be a good ambassador of the varsity.
Speaking during the 11th induction of Medical laboratory science graduates, Prof Zuru who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof A G Yahaya charged the graduates to be determined and shun acts that could taint the image of the varsity as well as their noble profession.
"As you are going out there, we want you to be good ambassador of this institution and the programme you have been fortunate to pass through, such that when we meet next time, we would be discussing the level you have taken the school farther"
He therefore urged the graduates to prioritize the well-being, shun unethical conducts and uphold the privacy of patients under their nose.
"I want to remind you that the joy of patients and their relatives should be the priority. Do whatever you can to keep to the oath you have taken"
The confidentiality of the patient under you must be ensured; on no account should you disclose the information of patients to an unauthorized party" he urged.
He assured the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) and the general public the credibility of the graduates, saying:
"I would like to assure the medical laboratory science council of Nigeria and the general public that the best of training in both learning and character was given to these graduates and they will not be found wanting on the bench" he affirmed.
The class chairman, Hon.Abdulkarim Gana, expressed appreciation to their lecturers and parents for their immense support throughout their academic year in the varsity.
One of the parents, Mallam Muhammad Ahmed applauded the University management for grooming their children to be responsible members of the society.
"I am really happy to be here today, to witness the induction of my child.
I thank the University of management for building up our children in medical profession.
We are happy that the money we spent on them doesn't waste" he said
