At the closing of the year 2018, the social media was buzzing with statuses like, "in 2k19, no fake friends," "No time for haters in 2019," "I must buy Benz in 2k19," "2019 is a goal," "No time for unserious boyfriends this year" and many other gaudy 'social-media goals' which will either not be met or carried over into the next year.
In previous years, people set--perhaps type--similar goals on social media, probably, because everyone is doing it or they don't want to be seen as goalless, as the social media of now is all about pleasing people to the detriment of oneself. And at the end, these goals are never achieved, for they are never being thought upon or put in thorough consideration when made.
A lot of people feel imbalanced in this world. They work hard but don't seem to achieve anything worthwhile. The reason they feel this way is because they haven't spent time thinking on what they want from life, setting formal goals--not social media announcement. It'll be pointless embarking on a journey without prior preparation.

Goal setting helps us believe in ourselves, serves as fuel to our life ambitions. It isn't just about creating life plans and holding yourself accountable. It's also about getting the inspiration necessary to achieve things thought impossible.
How then should goals be set?
First of all, one should have a deep thought of what one actually wants to achieve in the year. Set specific, measurable, relevant, and time-bound goals and write them down. According to the famous aphorism, "it's a dream unless you write it down, and it becomes a goal," goals should be stated clearly on paper. This will be a source of motivation as you see your goals frequently.
Breaking down your goals into monthly, weekly, and daily goals will help in achieving them faster. As the journey of miles begins with little steps.
Reward yourself when you accomplish your goals, continue to push for tougher goals and keep accomplishing.
If you do not already set goals, do so starting now. The outcome would make you wish you'd started earlier.
