The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has, on Friday 4th of February, 2022 inducted 81 Medical graduates of the 2019/2020 academic set into the medical profession. Amongst them are 64 males and 17 females, all totalling 81.
The event which took place at the university's auditorium had in attendance prominent personalities and veteran medical practitioners, ranging from the representative of the vice Chancellor, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto; the representative of Sultan of sokoto; chairman house committee on Heath care services, federal house of representative; provost college of health sciences and the cheif medical director, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital among other big-name leaders who immensely contributed to the eminence of the event.
The chairman of the occasion, Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu speaking with the graduands cited that "Every profession has a code of conduct that guides it, so, abide by the rules and the ethics, show justice, and you must not be biased, regardless of religion or tribe."
The representative of the NMDC's registrar, Dr. Abdulmushin Elijor was called on to swear in the fresh doctors. The set's class representative gave thanks to their lecturers, parents and families for giving them all the supports they needed to make their success attained, and he prayed for those that death or whatever hurdle, along the process ended
their journey.
Hon. Dr. Tanko Sununu presented the first award to the Best student in anatomy and physiology, Dr. Samaila A Aliyu. Samaila took home the sum of 100 thousand naira, a moment that caused sparks due to the fact that Dr. Tanko, during his time in school also graduated as the best student in anatomy.
Dr. Abdulmuhsin Elijor presented the next award to the best student in microbiology and best in pathology, Dr. Bashir Hafsat Abdullah. Another award was presented to Dr. Mukhtar Muhammad as he bagged the best student in pharmacology.
The overall best student in basic clinical science was Dr. Bashir Hafsat Abdullah.
An already 100-thousand-naira winner, Samaila A aliyu emerged again as the best graduating student in obstretics and gynecology. The best in pediatrics were Bashir Hafsat Abdullah and Hassan Abdullah Abdulqodir.
The Dean, faculty of clinical sciences, Dr. Mairo Hassan presented another award to Dr. Idris Said Zubaida Oyiza, the Best student in internal medicine and community medicine. Zubaida Oyiza did not let it end there as she bagged another plaque for being the best in surgery and also the best female graduating student and the overall best graduating student.
Dr. Idris Said Zubaida Oyiza was the best graduating student, she, over the course of the award presentation moments, received numerous awards from different, notable personalities. All the inducted graduates are now certified Medical doctors.
