This development became known through a circular signed by the association's coordinator, Dr Mansur Isah Buhari, on Friday, 24th December 2021.
The seven appointees, selected from three of the four units of the Department (English Language, Literature-in-English and Linguistics), will represent the students of the department and steer the affairs of the association for the 2020/2021 academic session.
According to the circular, Muhammad Bashir Abdulrahman, a 400 level student from the English Language unit, is the appointed chairman of the committee with Hamza Aisha Maishanu, a 400 level student from the Literature-in-English unit, emerging as the vice-chairman.
Abuh God'swill, a 400 level student from the Linguistics unit, was appointed Secretary with Ibrahim Mubarak, a 300 level student from the English unit and a class representative, as his Vice Secretary.

Mudashir Busari, a 200 level student from the Literature-in English unit, another class representative, is the appointed Auditor of the association.
According to the students' coordinator, Dr Mansur Isah Buhari, the expected students to be chosen from the fourth unit (French) are currently in Lagos State, for a program, as part of their academic requirements and will not be in school for the entire session.
"I think it won't be okay for them to be included and not participate.
"When I asked for 200 level French students, I was told that they only have one student," he added.
Pen Press also learned that the MELL Department is splitting soon.
"I know the Department will be split, but for now, we still have MELL, and we continue with it.
"When the Department is split, that's when we will now see how we can create different students' associations," he clarified.
