The Department of History Studies under the Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has changed her name officially from History Studies to History and International Studies.
This development was disclosed by the Head of the Department, Dr Usman Abubakar Daniya, noting that the department is now officially the Department of History and International Studies.
“The name has started taking effect in the department, and very soon the students would either be offered to study B. A in History or B. A in International Studies," he said.
In addition to that, the new name has been altered in the lecture material that was given to one of the students in the Department which indicates that the name has been upgraded from History Studies to History and International Studies.
The students of the department have expressed their gladness over the new development, pointing out that it would increase the standard of the history department.
Augustine Simon, a 100-Level student of the Department of History and International studies expressed his joy over the new initiative, noting that the department will make it up to the standard they are seeking for.
Jimba Daniel, a 100-Level student of the department said: “I am overwhelmed when I heard that the department has been upgraded from History to History and international studies. This will give the department more opportunities to know more about what is going on around the globe.
Azeez Mubaraq Abimbola, a 200-Level of department asserted that the new development would give them chance to know more about what is going on around the world.
