Female Student Seeks Proper Medicare as Scorpion Stings her at Academic Mosque

Hamid Fatimah Omotayo reports,

Olabode Aminat Abimbola a 200-Level student of Education and Biology, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, was stung by a scorpion at the school academic mosque around 8:00 p.m on 14th November 2021.

PEN PRESS gathered that she was about to perform her 'Ishai' prayer when the scorpion approached, stung, and left her in serious pain.

However, she lamented that even though she was crying in pain, she was not instantly attended to at the school clinic.

"If it were a snake that bites me and they refuse to quickly attend to me like they did tonight, I might have lost my life to the hand of death by now.

"I plead to the school management to proffer lasting solutions to the complaints of students about the clinic," she said.

AbdulRaheem Aisha Baba Oju Oja, a 200-Level student from the Faculty of Education and Extension Services said the scorpion was able to sting Aminat because there was no light at the mosque as of time of the incident.

She also lamented that it was so painful for the whole Academic mosque to lack a stable electricity supply.

"I beg the school management in collaboration with MSSN to help us provide stable electricity and adequate water at the female side of Mosque," she said.

Yekeen Lateefat Jaji, a 200-Level student of Education and Biology noted that unpleasant incident was due to the negligence of the development committee on the academic mosque that is yet to be completed.

"We will be glad if the school management helps us to complete the mosque so it would prevent future occurrence of this kind of accident," she said.
