"Any Association that fails to register will not be recognised," SU CTC Vice-Chairman Warns

Mudathir Hayatullahi (Abu Lubabah) reports,

The Vice-Chairman of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto Students' Union Caretaker committee, Abdul-Azeez Fatimah (A. A. Fati), in an exclusive interview with PEN PRESS UDUS, disclosed the importance of clubs/associations' registration and their annual renewal with the Students' Union.

"The essence of registering the clubs is for the union to recognize their existence and work hand-in-hand with them to promote peace and good governance in the University community," she said.

According to the Vice-Chairman, the registration, having commenced on Wednesday 17th November 2021, will last for 18 days, through Sunday 5th December 2021.

Thus, she advised clubs and associations to obtain registration forms from the union and make copies for documentation with the Student Affairs Division.

"They are to register with us first, coming along with:
1. An Application letter for registration/renewal.
2. A copy of the list of club executive members' names.
3. A copy of each club's existing constitution."

She continued, "After I have compiled the list of the registered clubs with us and presented them to the Dean Students Affairs, any club/ association found on the Students Affairs list without appearing on our list means that they illegally got their form elsewhere and they will have to pay for such action."

The Vice-Chairman, however, revealed that any club/association that fails to meet up with the registration deadline automatically forfeits its recognition by both the school management and the Students' Union.

She also emphasized that affected clubs/associations would lose access to any halls on campus for their activities and that the union will neither allow them to hold any meetings at its secretariat nor use its properties any longer.

"If there's need for some prominent associations to be registered and they did not register with us, if the school management detects by themselves, our attention will be called, and we shall invite those associations for registration/renewal of their registration," she added.
