THE PROBLEM STARTS HERE
BY MIUSTOPHA T WOLLY

The moment your hope begins to fade is when students of higher institutions, who hold key offices in the school, and are believed to be the ones to take over the affairs of Nigerian public offices in the nearest future, engage in a cat and rat fight. These are people who should be working hand in hand for the good of the students

The 2017/18, executive and the legislative arms, locked horns from their first day in office. The constitution provides that the president is responsible for swearing the legislators into office. During the swearing in ceremony, two of the president’s officers were denied entrance until some cajolement and pacification were made. This may have been the inception of the present tussle

No form of government that provides for the legislative arm can execute projects or pass a law without the approval of the legislature. It is the legislature’s function to make and amend the laws through the constitutionally provided procedure. Therefore, before any law is passed, it has to get the legislature’s approval. Likewise, before any major project is made, it needs the consideration and approval of the legislature.

The youths who claim to be leaders of tomorrow have failed to act as leaders of smaller organizations today. We emulate the corrupt leaders, failing to be innovative and different in our approach to leadership.

We have taken as models, the lazy politicians, the ones who steal mace and obstruct the cause of justice.

The union executives claimed that, they notified the legislature of their desire to embark on the bridge project and the legislature declined approving it. It is obvious that the two arms have an ongoing misunderstanding

The previous administration, were praised for the commitment and understanding between both arms. Any organisation with internal problems will continue to suffer misdirection until such internal issues are solved.

The Executive and Legislature should form an alliance, hold joint meetings and work hand in hand to reach the apex.
