RAMADAN KAREEM

BY: Abdulmajeed Bala Kangiwa

Welcome, oh Ramadan!
It is Ramadan, let's talk about blessings, benefits, gains and favors of the holy month. Ramadan is a month of fasting, month of praying, month of mercy, month of forgiveness, month of acquiring jumbo rewards, a month in which exists a day that is better than a thousand months, a month in which doors of hell are closed, doors of jannah are widely opened and devils chained
down. Fasting is the most important deal in Ramadan, fasting means (prevention of ones self from eating and drink from sunrise to sunset). The prophet PBUH said "whoever fasts Ramadan with good intention, Allah is going to forgive all his previous wrongdoings". Allah has explained to us the reward for solat, zakat, hajj and every other thing he has commanded us but not fasting, that is to show us how special and highly placed it is before Allah. Allah says "All deeds of a human belong to him unless fasting, its for me and I will reward for it". Only Allah knows the reward of a fasting man. Eating sahur is very important the prophet PBUH said "Eat sahur because in eating sahur there is blessing" same as breaking fasting as soon as the sunset. The prophet said "The best will never stop reaching people as long as they do break their fasting early".

Ramadan is the month of Qur'an, it was in this month that the whole Qur'an was sent down to the first heaven in a place called bayt Al-izza (home of power) and gradually sent down to the prophet by Angel jibril (AS). The prophet said in a hadith that whenever someone recite an alphabet from the holy Qur'an he will be rewarded ten rewards. In Ramadan whatever good you perform you will be rewarded double, that means when you recite an Alphabet from the Qur'an in the month of Ramadan you will get ten rewards for each Alphabet.   Ramadan is a month where Allah forgives people, frees them from hell and show them ways to the widely open doors of Al-jannah by rewarding them abundantly for whatever good deed they do. Such as: Azkar (remembrance of Allah, seeking for forgiveness, praying for the prophet PBUH, feeding the less privileged etc. The prophet said "whoever feeds a fasting man, Allah is going to reward him the same he rewards the man for fasting "

Laylatul Qadr (night of destiny), a single night which Allah says is better than thousands of years. Anyone who is lucky to worship Allah in that night will get more rewards than someone who worship Allah for thousands of months. This night is said to be among the last ten days of of Ramadan so endeavor to sacrifice the whole of the 10 last nights in praying nawafils, recitation of the holy Qur'an, remembrance of Allah and other Azkars as the exact night was not precisely mentioned by the prophet.

May Allah spare our lives to witness the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Amin!
